What type of birth can I choose?
There are so many ways to birth your baby:
free birth
home birth
birth centre
hospital with/without monitoring with a doula
With a private midwife
induction
planned caesarean
Think about what appeals to you about each type of birth.
What are your fears for each one?
Research around the risks/benefits of each one.
Consider both the birth itself and the postnatal period too.
HOW DO I WANT TO FEEL?
Ask yourself, what is most important for me about this birth?
This might be emotional or it might be practical
Are there any added complexities of pregnancy (maybe if this is your 2nd/3rd or more pregnancy; or any diagnosis, any health related conditions that you may have to take into account.
How might these affect your birth choices or the outcome of birth (both VBAC or Caesarean birth).
Preparing for birth:
Is there any unresolved trauma or any questions you have about your previous birth experiences?
Is there a health care professional or trusted person you can turn to for support with this?
YOU CAN ALWAYS CHANGE YOUR MIND!
How you birth your baby is a decision only you can make.
But these questions might help you work out what feels best if you are unsure.
